Parce que les professionnels de santé sont rarement formés pour accompagner les mères qui souhaitent allaiter…

Les mamans allaitantes vous proposent de les rencontrer le 14 octobre 2007, en ouverture de la Semaine Mondiale de l’Allaitement Maternel, à l’occasion de la deuxième édition de « la Grande Tétée », organisée en simultané dans plus de 20 villes de France.

Toutes les mamans allaitant leurs bébés ou bambins sont invitées à se rassembler le dimanche 14 octobre, à Paris et simultanément dans d’autres villes de France. En province, Bayonne, Bordeaux, Brest, Caen, Cannes, Clermont-Ferrand, Le Havre, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nancy, Nantes, Nîmes, Pau, Perpignan, Reims, Rennes, Rouen, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Valence ont déjà répondu à l’appel.

Cet événement ouvrira la Semaine Mondiale de l’Allaitement Maternel, dont le thème est cette année « Les débuts de l’allaitement » et qui est organisée en France par la CoFAM (Coordination Française pour l’Allaitement Maternel http://coordination-allaitement.org ).

Les objectifs sont d’offrir du soutien de mère à mère aux femmes qui souhaitent allaiter, de faire évoluer le regard de la société sur l’allaitement et de sensibiliser au manque de formation des professionnels de santé concernant l’allaitement. L’OMS recommande un allaitement exclusif pendant 6 mois et la poursuite de l’allaitement jusqu’à deux ans et plus. Alors que la promotion de l’allaitement maternel est l’un des objectifs du Programme national nutrition santé (PNNS) du Ministère de la santé, un peu plus de la moitié des femmes seulement choisit d’allaiter son enfant à la naissance et la durée de l’allaitement est en général très courte (10 semaines). Pourtant, malgré les difficultés dues à un manque d’accompagnement, de nombreuses mamans, en France, ont fait le choix de l’allaitement maternel, voire de l’allaitement long. Ces femmes souhaitent aujourd’hui inviter celles qui allaitent ou souhaitent allaiter à venir les rencontrer.

Cette rencontre sera une deuxième édition, après un premier rendez-vous le 22 octobre 2006, qui avait rassemblé près de 500 mamans dans plus de 15 villes de France, dont 150 à Paris. Le succès de l’année dernière laisse présager une réussite encore plus grande cette année. A l’origine, le rendez-vous est à mon initiative( maman de 3 enfants, domiciliée à Saint Savournin dans les Bouches du Rhône). Avec d’autres femmes rassemblées sur un forum internet, j’ai lancé cette proposition suite à l’annonce d’un même événement aux Philippines, où les mamans allaitantes ont rempli un stade pour allaiter toutes au même moment leur bébé. Leur photo a fait le tour du monde.

La couverture médiatique a été très forte en 2006, ce qui a permis de donner un coup de projecteur sur le thème de l’allaitement. La rencontre est passé dans tous les journaux télévisés nationaux et régionaux. De nombreuses émissions de radio en ont parlé.
