600ml(1 pint milk)
1-2 tbsp castor sugar
1 vanilla pod or 1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Instructions Instructions   Put the rice, milk and sugar in a heavy- bottomed saucepan. Split the vanilla pod, If using, and scrap the seeds into the pan, or add the vanilla essence. Bring to boil, then reduce the heat, cover with a lid and simmer for 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix with fruit or one of the topping below.

# low sugar strawberry jam
# a little maple syrup
# strawberry puree

Notes Notes   This is a quicker way of making rice pudding,cooking it on the top stove rather than in the oven.

TOP TIP: After the age of one year, if your child is fussy and eat only a small variety of food, continue with infant formula instead of cow's milk.
